Making a Movie

When using multimedia with students, starting simple is important. Finding apps that are intuitive helps to insure that a minimal amount of time is spent teaching the technology and the majority of the time is spent on content.

One app that is simple yet produces great quality multimedia products is Lego Movie Maker. The following are examples from different age levels:
KINDERGARTEN
  • Chicken Movie
 UPPER ELEMENTARY
  • The Drag Race
TEACHERS
  • Hulk Needs Coffee

  • With your movie candy team, look over the  planning sheet and bag of Lego characters.
  • Plan a SHORT single scene plot (think about a joke, a three sentence story, etc.)
  • After you have your story planned, using the storyboard, draw out scenes for the major shots.
  • Using the LEGO Movie Maker or iMovie app, take a series of photos to represent movement of the characters. Make sure to use the overlay feature to help you align your shots.
  • Add title cards, sound, text and music as desired.

  • Add your movie to SeeSaw.
  • Tag all team members and place in Multimedia folder.
Let's go to the movies!
